Power of Colors

Have you ever thought about how different colours affect your life? Blue makes you feel calm, you feel anxious in yellow room, feeling depressed when there is lack of sunlight. All this have scientific reasons, this is known as Color Psychology.

Different colors have different effects, hence they are also used in color therapy for treating different conditions. Color affects people in many ways, depending on age, gender, ethnic background and climate. It is important to know effects of colors before choosing colors for your walls, clothes etc. Colors can affect you in different ways – some may be actual or some ,may be just visual like , have you heard that people look slim in black color?

Different colors have different effects and psychologies associated with them.

  • Red: represents danger, warning, or error, but also warmth, love, passion, and intense emotion. It can even stimulate appetite. It increases the energy levels and is a good mood up-lifter.

Red draws people together and stimulates conversation, so a good color for Living Room. Wearing red color clothes gives you a feel good factor.

People who wear pink more often are seen to be easily approachable and more loving.

  • Yellow: is bright, attention-getting color is seen as a sunny, happy color. All shades of yellows and golds will cheer you up and help make you feel happier. But studies have also shown, that prolonged exposure to it can make people lose their tempers.

  • Blue: has a calming effect. The color is also often associated with sadness. Studies suggest that it can increase productivity and creativity, and may actually lower body temperature and pulse rate. It has been proven that different shades of blue can improve concentration, stimulate thinking and provide mental clarity.

This is a good color for study and work, as it offers relaxation and stimulation at the same time.

  • Orange: being a combination of yellow and red, orange is also a warm, stimulating and attention-getting color. It brings a high degree of positivism, always rejuvenating us in the most difficult moments.

It is a very social color, making people open up and enhance their communication, so it is great if is used as a decorative color for parties, as it gets people talking and inspires a good mood.

  • Brown: darker shades of red, yellow and orange are warm, but less stimulating. It symbolises strength and security. It can also create feelings of loneliness, sadness, and isolation.

In large quantities, it can seem vast, stark, and empty, like an enormous desert devoid of life.

  • Green:   is a lively color, and it symbolises renewal and growth, this color is generally a physically soothing color that may simultaneously produce an emotional lift. Green is the color most associated with nature, and sometimes signifies good luck or money.
